In this lesson, we introduce KreaTech, a digital learning platform, and provide an understanding of the educational and professional context in which it is used, along with the benefits it offers to both teachers and students.
KreaTech was developed as part of an international European project aimed at strengthening education in film, media, and related creative fields. The platform gives teachers the ability to create courses that are clear, reusable, and accessible, without any technical skills or coding experience. For students, KreaTech offers a consistent and structured UI that allows them to follow lessons step by step without confusion, thanks to its user-friendly design.
KreaTech was developed in collaboration with educators and students from across Europe to address specific needs in higher education. The project was funded under the Erasmus+ programme, with the goal of supporting digital transformation and building resilience and capacity in teaching. It brings together universities, film schools, and industry partners, combining expertise in filmmaking, pedagogy, neuroscience, and software development. The consortium has worked through an agile, participatory process in which teachers and students have actively shaped the platform by contributing through focus groups, surveys, and other methods.
While identifying the needs of teachers and students, we found that most teachers plan their lessons in advance and regularly reuse their materials. However, they rely on fragmented tools (such as PowerPoint slides, PDFs, emails, or cloud folders), which make it difficult to maintain a consistent structure across a course. Students, on the other hand, reported that this lack of consistency made it hard to understand how lessons connected or what the learning progression was meant to be. KreaTech was built to address these issues directly, creating a modular workflow: courses are made of modules, modules made of lessons, and everything is shareable between teachers and institutions for reuse.

If you're here to teach, you'll learn how KreaTech can actually support your work. If you're here to learn, you'll get a structured platform that doesn't waste your time. Let's get started!
Teachers often carry the burden of preparing large amounts of material every semester, but lack a consistent way to organise or share it. KreaTech provides a clear structure for courses, which gives teachers a framework they can rely on every time they plan or update a course.
Once a lesson is created, it does not disappear after the semester ends. It remains available for revision, adaptation, and reuse. Teachers can share their material within their own institution or with partner institutions registered on the platform. Colleagues can reuse existing lessons or duplicate them with a couple of tweaks and make their own.
In this way, the work of individual teachers contributes to a wider pool of resources. This approach is a reflection of the open-access principle of the project: knowledge is made available not just to a single classroom but to a broader educational community across Europe, where students and teachers alike can benefit from a shared pool of content.
KreaTech is also easy to use for teachers and students alike, without the need for hard technical skills. The system is designed so that lessons can be created and published through a simple online editor. Uploading a document or embedding a video requires no more expertise than using everyday tools. The platform takes care of rendering the content into a well-tested, student-facing interface that works consistently across devices.
Each course is structured into a clear, repeatable pattern: courses are divided into modules and lessons; therefore, there is no need to navigate complex paths to find information like other similar sites do.
Lessons remain available even after they have been taught, allowing students to return for revision at any time. Because the content is openly accessible, there are no hidden barriers or unnecessary restrictions that could interrupt the learning flow.
The platform has been designed and tested to work seamlessly across devices, including desktop and mobile; navigation remains consistent and reliable. Being designed with usability and user experience in mind, students can concentrate fully on the subject matter without being distracted by technical obstacles, ads, or anything that could negatively impact their learning process.

How Courses, Modules, and Lessons Work
This lesson explains the KreaTech hierarchy: Course → Module → Lesson from the perspective of the teachers creating content, and students benefitting from it.
